——

In this class, participants will learn, discuss and practice how to incorporate sound work into their personal and professional practices of healing, transformation and growth.

Part I: Embody the Seat of the Receiver, the Listener or Potential Client

You will learn:

  • why we can use sound as a modality

  • how we hear vs. how we listen

  • the ways we can experience various sounds in our minds, emotions and bodies through deep listening

  • discuss the process known as entrainment

  • listen more critically from the perspective of the practitioner

  • brainstorm listening to different sounds and the qualities that are brought out and how that might be incorporated into a sound bath

  • learn how to build a soundscape for yourself and/or others

Part II: Embody the Seat of the Giver as the Practitioner

This day will incorporate experiential learning and playing with various sound healing instruments. Because of the experiential and technical nature of this day, it is required to meet in-person at my space in Far Rockaway. (There are only 5 spaces available but if there's an interest, another day will be added to the calendar.)

You will learn:

  • the basics techniques of playing through hands-on practice with various sound tools available at the studio (such as alchemy crystal singing bowls, wind gongs, and Himalayan singing bowls)

  • discuss other options for constructing a sound bath (such as chimes, tuning forks, etc.)

  • design and offer mini sound baths to one another

Both days will end in a restful sound bath to receive, digest and process everything learned.

Paying It Forward

We provide most of our community offerings and private sessions by sliding scale. This is based on the idea of ‘paying it forward’ which enables more people to access healing and wellness. This works when people pay as much as they can for our offerings to help others who may be less fortunate be able to gain access, too. We believe everyone is entitled to heal and thrive, and that practitioners deserve to earn a living wage. We are all in this together and choose to do our best to take care of one another. Thank you for being part of the MINKA community!
